Cave City, Kentucky is a city that is located in Barren County. As of 2010, Cave City has a population of about 2,000 people. The city is considered to be part of the Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area in which Cave City is located was acquired in 1853 by the Knob City Land Company. The first post office in Cave City was established in 1860 and in 1866 the city became incorporated.  

There are many things to see and do around Cave City. There are various types of restaurants located in the city that are sure to be satisfying to almost any individual’s taste. Also located in Cave City is a large convention center that is able to host over 40,000 individuals. This convention center houses many events and in turn brings tourism to the city. The main attraction around Cave City is the Mammoth Cave National Park. The park is home to Mammoth Cave, a 350-mile cave that qualifies as the longest cave in the world. Mammoth Cave is also 379-feet deep. It is estimated that there are 600 miles of passageways that are still undiscovered.

Cave City is situated in a climate that experiences warm, humid weather during the summer and cold, wet weather during the winter. On average, thermostat readings during the months of June, July, and August range from the mid to upper-80s during the day. Record thermostat readings have climbed well into the 100s.
